Vericlave, a cybersecurity technology and managed services provider, announced the newest addition to its leadership team with the appointment of James (Jim) Brown III to the role of chief strategy officer (CSO).
“Jim is an exceptional leader, strategist and growth catalyst and is a great asset to our growing management team,” said Joel Bagnal, president and chief operating officer of Vericlave. “His intellect, passion, investment prowess, corporate development successes and cybersecurity market expertise puts Vericlave in a strong position to bring together investors, customers and partners to further strengthen our transformational cybersecurity capabilities.”
At Vericlave, Brown will oversee the company’s capital investment and growth strategy, and he will ensure effective communication of Vericlave’s value proposition.
Brown is a seasoned leader and executive in the Austin entrepreneurial ecosystem, with more than 18 years of experience in corporate finance and venture capital, information technology, academia, and the military. Throughout his career, he has driven investment initiatives at leading firms like Polaris Venture Partners, Invisiblehand Networks, Virtus Capital Partners, and Arena Growth Partners, where he executed complex and ambitious growth strategies. He also played integral roles in identifying innovative and disruptive technologies for companies such as Watchfire and Avici Systems. His prominent leadership in the startup industry earned him the first ever role of Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Texas at Austin as well as honors in Boston’s Top 40 Under 40 from the Boston Business Journal, and The Next Network from Boston Business Forward magazine. He currently holds board seats for his former investment companies and regularly contributes to philanthropic and non-profit groups in Boston.
“We stand firm behind Vericlave’s mission to prevent cyberattacks and have complete faith in the company’s strategic leadership team,” said Peter Wilson, EFD Management, LLC and Vericlave board member. “Adding Jim Brown to the team is another great step for Vericlave as they grow and expand and protect more customers from critical infrastructure attacks.”
